Your starting point

Less jargon.
More “got it.”

Practical guides to help you start, check what comes back, and build habits you can use every day.

01

How do I get started?

Choose an AI chat tool, open a conversation, and ask for help with one small task. Everyday language is enough.

  1. Pick a low-stakes task, such as a draft email.
  2. Say what you want and who it’s for.
  3. Include useful limits: length, tone, or time.
  4. Read the answer and ask for one change.

How do I check an answer?

Treat the answer as a draft. Check names, dates, numbers, and claims against the original source before relying on them.

  • Open cited pages; make sure they exist and support the claim.
  • Check current rules and prices directly with the relevant organization.
  • Recalculate totals with a calculator.
  • Ask a qualified professional when a decision needs one.

What should I keep private?

Leave out passwords, account numbers, private documents, and identifying health information. Use placeholders instead.

  • Use [name] or [company] in draft messages.
  • Check your employer’s policy before using work material.
  • Review a tool’s privacy settings and terms before uploading files.
  • Keep anything you aren’t comfortable sharing out of the conversation.

What if it feels confusing?

Ask for a smaller step. You can say: “Explain that in plain English,” “Give me one example,” or “Ask me one question at a time.”

You don’t need to learn everything at once. Start with one task and keep what helps.
